Read the statements below and choose the alternative that is in line with Duboc (2016) as regards language assessment:
1. Punishment is replaced by the understanding of the reasons of certain performances in order to improve students' learning as well as the teacher's choices;
2. The act of evaluating is more collaborative, mediated, more public, and more horizontal;
3. Formal moments of assessment are most desirable rather than more informal ones, such as self-evaluation.
(translated from DUBOC 2016, pp.57-80.)
All of them are true.
None of them are true.
1 and 3 are false.
1 and 2 are true.
2 and 3 are false.
According to the "Orientações Curriculares para o Ensino Médio" (OCEM) (2006, p. 117), there are two types of reading that can be explored by teachers in the classroom: critical reading and critical literacy. They guide students to different ways of seeing themselves and the world in this context. Choose the FALSE statement about critical literacy.
Critical literacy work seeks to lead students to construct meanings from what they have read, instead of extracting meaning from the text itself, as critical literacy does not understand that meanings are already given and waiting for understanding.
Critical literacy Theory believes that meanings are constructed within a social, historical context, immersed in power relations.
Reading is a language activity that involves getting to know the world, having a vision of it and reflecting on the possibilities and conveniences of social transformation.
Reading aimed at critical literacy emphasizes representations and analyzes differences, such as racial, sexual, gender and questions about who wins or loses in certain social relationships.
The sense of citizenship may have more opportunity for expansion in the type of reading development proposed by critical reading theory.
Leia o texto a seguir e assinale a alternativa INCORRETA sobre o processo de leitura.
Reading a text does not imply that it does not have many unitary meanings potentially accessible to all. It rather allows a variety of interpretation by different readers, governed by factors such as purpose, background knowledge, and the relationship between the reader and the text (Nuttall, 1996; Aebersold & Field, 1997). From this perspective, reading is understood to be a complex cognitive process in which reader and text interact to (re)create meaningful discourse (Araújo, 2005).
Um mesmo texto pode ser interpretado com nuances diversas, de acordo com fatores externos.
O conhecimento prévio é um fator determinante para a construção de sentidos do texto.
A leitura é um processo interativo, em que diversas variáveis influenciam a compreensão de um texto.
A leitura é um processo passivo, ou seja, envolve o leitor e o texto sozinhos na construção de sentidos.
O objetivo do leitor no ato da leitura influencia a compreensão de um texto.
“The most important difference lies in the learners and their purposes for learning English. ESP students are usually adults who already have some acquaintance with English and are learning the language in order to communicate a set of professional skills and to perform particular job-related functions. An ESP program is therefore built on an assessment of purposes and needs and the functions for which English is required. […] The ESP focal point is that English is not taught as a subject separated from the students' real world (or wishes); instead, it is integrated into a subject matter area important to the learners”. (FIORITO, 2005) Disponível em: https://www.usingenglish.com/ teachers/articles/teaching-english-for-specific-purposes-esp.html, accessed on 15th December 2022.
According to Fiorito (2005), what is INCORRECT to say about English for Specific Purposes (ESP)?
Learners in the ESP classes are generally aware of the purposes for which they will need to use English. Having already oriented their education toward a specific field, they see their English training as complementing this orientation. Knowledge of the subject area enables the students to identify a real context for the vocabulary and structures of the ESP classroom. In such way, the learners do not take advantage of what they already know about the subject matter to learn English.
The term "specific" in ESP refers to the specific purpose for learning English. Students approach the study of English through a field that is already known and relevant to them. This means that they are able to use what they learn in the ESP classroom right away in their work and studies.
The teacher arranges the conditions for learning in the classroom and sets long-term goals and short-term objectives for students’ achievement. His/her knowledge of students' potential is central in designing a syllabus with realistic goals that considers the students' concern with the learning situation.
English as a Second Language (ESL) and ESP diverge not only in the nature of the learner, but also in the aim of instruction. In fact, as a general rule, while in ESL all four language skills (listening, reading, speaking, and writing) are stressed equally, in ESP it is a needs analysis that determines which language skills are most needed by the students, and the syllabus is designed accordingly.
ESP combines subject matter and English language teaching. Such a combination is highly motivating because students are able to apply what they learn in their English classes to their main field of study, whether it be accounting, business management, economics, computer science or tourism.

A resposta CORRETA é
letramento multimodal.
letramento crítico.
conhecimento lexical.
letramento digital.
conhecimento sistêmico.
Even though it is generally considered obsolete, the Grammar-Translation Method, also called “Classic Method”, is still widely used, especially when the focus is on teaching reading and writing skills.
